Giocatori di backgammon in un cortile
Giulio Rosati brings a lively Orientalist scene to life, capturing a casual moment of leisure among three men in a sunlit courtyard. Dressed in vibrant robes and traditional fezzes, the group is gathered around a backgammon board on an intricate rug, with one player gesturing animatedly while his opponent listens intently. Meanwhile, a third figure lounges lazily nearby, seemingly bored by the game, while a tray of tiny coffee cups sits ready for a break. Rosati was famous for his incredibly detailed depictions of North African and Middle Eastern life, though he often painted these exotic scenes from the comfort of his studio in Rome.
