Admonitions Scroll (Song Dynasty Baimiao Copy) - Main Painting 2
This delicate scroll is a Song Dynasty 'white line' copy of the famous *Admonitions of the Instructress to the Court Ladies*, originally attributed to the legendary Gu Kaizhi. Using a technique called *baimiao*—pure ink outlines without color—the artist captures moral tales for imperial women. You can see calligraphy describing the brave Lady Feng protecting an emperor from a bear (center text) and the Lady of Wei refusing improper music (right). Gu Kaizhi was famous for believing that a painting's spirit lived in the eyes, reportedly waiting years just to paint the pupils of his figures!
