Standing Nude
1906-1907
Klimt's sketches often feel like secret glimpses into his private world, far rawer and more intimate than his famous golden paintings. This delicate drawing captures a nude figure wearing a large hat, her pose relaxed and unguarded. The stamp 'Gustav Klimt Nachlass' in the corner tells us it came straight from his estate after his death in 1918, part of a massive collection of over 3,000 drawings he left behind. These sketches reveal his incredible ability to capture the human form with just a few swift, confident lines.
