Para que não sejam esquecidos
1915
James Montgomery Flagg, best known for his iconic Uncle Sam recruitment poster, created this moody 1915 illustration titled 'Lest They Forget.' A group of people huddle around a table, their faces illuminated by a single candle and etched with deep concern. The scratchy, energetic ink lines give the scene a nervous energy, perfectly capturing the anxiety of families waiting for news during World War I. It’s a stark contrast to his later, bold propaganda posters, showing his incredible range as an illustrator.
