Landschaft mit Vieh
Jules Dupré captures a moody, sepia-toned pastoral scene where cows graze and rest under a dramatic, cloud-filled sky. As a key figure of the Romantic movement and the Barbizon School, Dupré rebelled against stiff academic art to paint nature directly, often focusing on these quiet, rural moments. The loose, expressive brushstrokes suggest this is a quick sketch made outdoors, capturing the fleeting atmosphere of the countryside rather than a polished studio piece. It feels like a snapshot of a peaceful afternoon just before a storm rolls in.
