Odilon Redon reimagines the classic Greek myth of Leda and the Swan not as a dramatic event, but as a soft, mystical dream. A nude figure crouches intimately beside a large white swan, both of them dissolving into a swirling wash of ethereal blues, greens, and purples. As a leader of the Symbolist movement, Redon cared little for realistic detail, preferring to capture the poetic mood and mystery of the legend.
