Ton ancêtre
1933
Paul Klee’s 'Dein Ahn' (Your Ancestor) depicts a shaggy, grinning figure that looks like a cross between a caveman and a friendly monster, rendered in frantic, scratchy lines that vibrate with energy. Painted in 1933, the same year the Nazis forced Klee to flee Germany, this piece feels like a primal scream or a retreat into humanity's deepest roots. The title translates to 'Your Ancestor,' suggesting a cheeky reminder that beneath our civilized veneer, we all have a bit of this wild, toothy beast inside us.
