Pequeno mundo

Paul Klee

1914

Pequeno mundo by Paul Klee, 1914

Paul Klee’s 'Small World' (or Kleinswelt) looks like a chaotic, microscopic universe scribbled into existence. Created in 1914, this dense black-and-white print is packed with tiny faces, stick figures, and cryptic symbols that seem to swarm like bacteria or busy little people. Much like a musical fugue—fitting for a trained violinist—the overlapping shapes create a frantic, rhythmic energy. It feels as if Klee was mapping out a hidden, bustling civilization living right under our noses, full of strange creatures and geometric mysteries just before the outbreak of World War I.
