La caza del ciervo

Peter Paul Rubens

La caza del ciervo by Peter Paul Rubens

Peter Paul Rubens captures the raw, chaotic energy of a Baroque hunt with loose, frantic brushstrokes that make the dogs and their prey seem to leap right off the canvas. You can almost hear the barking and the rustling leaves as the pack corners a deer near a wooded ridge, while a hunter in red rushes in for the kill. Rubens was famous for these lively sketches, which he used to work out the composition for massive, dramatic masterpieces before letting his workshop help finish the final versions. It’s a perfect snapshot of the artist's genius for movement and drama, freezing a split-second of action in time.
