The Swing by Pierre-Auguste Renoir, 1876

Renoir captured a fleeting moment of Parisian leisure in this sun-dappled scene, where a young woman in a white dress adorned with blue bows enjoys a ride on a swing. The dappled light filtering through the trees creates a playful dance of shadows across the figures, a hallmark of the Impressionist style. Interestingly, the models were friends and neighbors of the artist, and the man pushing the swing is actually Renoir's brother, Edmond. Today, this charming slice of 19th-century life hangs in the Musée d'Orsay in Paris.
