The Bedroom by Vincent van Gogh, 1889

Vincent van Gogh painted this cozy, slightly skewed bedroom in 1889 to express a sense of 'absolute restfulness.' He actually created three versions of this room in Arles, France, sending one to his mother and sister to show them what his life looked like. Notice how the walls seem to tilt and the perspective is intentionally flattened? Van Gogh wanted to use color and simplified shapes to evoke emotion rather than strict reality, a hallmark of his Post-Impressionist style. It's one of his most beloved works, proving that even a simple room can burst with vibrant energy.
