Amazing the Pharisees
1504-1505
Step into a Renaissance classroom where a young Jesus is holding his own against a room full of baffled scholars! Albrecht Dürer captured this biblical scene—often called 'Christ Among the Doctors'—with incredible precision, showing the elders leaning in, utterly stunned by the boy's wisdom. Created around 1504, this print is plate 15 from his famous 'Life of the Virgin' woodcut series. Dürer was a master of the printmaking world, and this piece showcases his genius for turning religious stories into dramatic, human moments that feel almost like a snapshot from history.
