Back Room Boys' They Also Serve
Fred Taylor takes us behind the scenes of London’s transit system in this charming poster, depicting a long row of buses waiting for maintenance in a quiet garage. The text honors the 'Back Room Boys'—the mechanics and staff working day and night to keep the city moving. The slogan 'They Also Serve' at the bottom is a famous line from John Milton’s poetry, often used during the war years to validate the crucial work of support staff. It’s a wonderful example of how graphic design can turn a mundane garage scene into a tribute to essential workers.
