São Jerônimo
Guercino captures Saint Jerome in a moment of deep, almost dreamy contemplation, gazing upward as if receiving a divine vision. The artist's masterful use of quick, energetic pen strokes and soft washes gives the old saint's muscular body a striking sense of volume and life. Instead of focusing on the traditional lion companion, the rugged, sketchy landscape keeps our eyes locked on his intense spiritual connection. This drawing perfectly showcases the Baroque era's love for dramatic emotion, proving that even a quick sketch can carry profound weight.
