Cormorán con pez
1900 - 1930
Master of the shin-hanga movement, Ohara Koson revitalized traditional Japanese woodblock printing by focusing on the delicate beauty of nature. In this scene, a cormorant strides triumphantly through shallow water, a freshly caught fish clamped firmly in its beak. The sweeping, golden lines of the reeds frame the bird perfectly, highlighting Koson's incredible skill in capturing wildlife in motion. His bird prints were wildly popular in the West during the early 20th century, making him one of the most successful export artists of his era.
