Fighting Cocks
Frans Snyders brings the barnyard to life with incredible tension in this Baroque masterpiece. Two proud roosters face off in the foreground, their feathers puffed and necks stretched in a dramatic standoff, while a speckled hen watches calmly from a wooden trough behind them. Snyders was a master of animal painting in 17th-century Flanders, often collaborating with giants like Rubens to add lively creatures to their grand canvases. The hyper-realistic texture of the feathers and the rustic brick background show off his incredible skill at capturing nature's raw energy.
