(Song Dynasty Copy) Nymph of the Luo River Scroll (Volume 1) - Main Painting 1
This scrolling masterpiece acts like an ancient graphic novel, illustrating a tragic romance from a famous poem by Cao Zhi. In the center, the poet and his officials gaze in awe at the Nymph of the Luo River, who floats gracefully on the left, while horses and attendants wait on the right. Although attributed to the 4th-century master Gu Kaizhi, this is a Song Dynasty copy that preserves his signature 'silkworm thread' lines—fine, uniform, and flowing. It captures the bittersweet moment when the human and divine worlds briefly meet before parting forever.
