Ink Bamboo
Zheng Xie, also known as Zheng Banqiao, was one of the 'Eight Eccentrics of Yangzhou' and was absolutely obsessed with bamboo. He famously described his creative process as having bamboo grow in his chest before it ever touched the paper. Here, dark, sharp leaves clash and dance against slender stalks, capturing the plant's spirit of resilience and modesty—bending in the wind but never breaking. The long column of calligraphy on the right is likely his own unique 'six-and-a-half script,' blending different styles to explain the philosophy behind the painting.
