Wasted Petrol is Another Ship Lost
This bold WWII propaganda poster by Abram Games is a masterclass in visual guilt-tripping. Designed with his signature 'maximum meaning, minimum means' philosophy, it uses a giant downward arrow to visually drag a truck and motorcycle down, symbolizing a sinking ship. The message is stark: if you waste petrol on a joyride, you force supply ships to make dangerous crossings where they might be torpedoed by U-boats. It’s a brilliant piece of graphic design that connects civilian behavior directly to the lives of sailors on the front lines.
